Humph Hall welcomes back Lucy Wise, a regional VIC-based singer-songwriter whose songs carry a powerful sense of connection with the stories and places that make us who we are. From the age of 7, Lucy performed around Australia and internationally in ‘The Wise Family Band’ where she began to grow her own unique voice. Her lyrics and melodies are warm and heartfelt, referencing the folk music she grew up playing, and tell stories of love, healing and relationships with our environment. She is a cherished artist at festivals across Australia.
This concert forms part of Lucy’s “Taking Heart Tour”, in which she is performing a series of solo concerts across Eastern Australia, featuring songs from her upcoming new album, which is to be released in 2023. This is Lucy’s first visit to Humph Hall since the tour of her “Winter Sun” album in 2018, which was nominated for the Music Victoria Awards Best Folk Album.

“Wise is a natural storyteller, infusing songs with a sense of place so strong you can almost feel the dusty earth crunch beneath your feet as she sings.” - Adam Norris (The Brag)
"If Joni Mitchell and Sandy Denny had a child together, she might sound a lot like Lucy Wise...Wise is extremely talented, and one can hear her influences, but for the most part she makes her own distinct sound. This is pure folk music, played well and with a great deal of emotion." - Spill Magazine
****4.5 star review for Winter Sun - The Weekend Australian
“Winter Sun is a wonderful representation of healing, self discovery and the processes of becoming grounded and learning self worth…It is no secret that Lucy is a gifted writer, but “Winter Sun” will have you experiencing a new sense of empathy and have you walking in her shoes from track one." - 27 Magazine
“A wonderfully natural singer and uncommonly gifted writer. Prediction: within this decade Lucy will be a noted songster, worldwide.” – Doug Spencer, ABC RN
