‘The Thomsons’ are a contemporary folk / roots acoustic based duo that specialise in original music that tells a story. Their music is based on a personal, oblique perspective of the beautiful world in which we live. Through the music of ‘The Thomsons’ be prepared to dust off your passport, add a few obscure visas, and meet a cast of characters, including a Texan diner waitress masquerading as the Statue of Liberty, a Central Asian small time drug mule, an aspirational Bougainvillean boy in a maelstrom of anarchy, and reflect on the rhetoric of a post-apocalyptic world. Be there as Singapore falls, hang out in a trendy Malaccan café with fellow life travellers, and take the road trip of a lifetime through West Bengal armed only with a Monkey God keychain.
“The Musos were at Eudlo this last week on Sunday November 5 with featured act “The Thomsons”. Scott Thomson is a friend from Winterbreak and with his partner Jenny Thomson make up the folk duo which came up from Newcastle in NSW to play for us. They had the Musos’ good mate Jodi Murtha joining them on bass and harmony and what a beautiful sound they make together. Scott is a very fine songwriter and guitarist with a warm baritone voice and Jenny added tasteful piano, flute and tempted us with some harmonica fills along with her harmony, which, complemented by Jodi’s voice made for some exquisite music”. - Michael Whiticker
“What a great performance by the Thomson's at the Woy Woy Opera House last night. If you saw Geographica you'll know what I mean. It had everything - great songs, a moving and amazing presentation. This was more than a great concert. It was emotionally engrossing education and grand entertainment, a world travelogue with a well balanced dose of adventure, history and politics, intimate personal stories and adventures galore. If you missed it last night and the Thomsons are coming to your neck of the woods soon, make sure you get there. You'll be glad you did”. - Michael Fine
